Recent studies show how the female presence, both in translation practice and in translation studies, is absolutely dominant. Women are active agents in the translation activity, but they have also a central role as authors, and therefore are object themselves of translation. It is therefore essential to analyse women’s philosophical thought and the relationship between writing and translation of female philosophers. Besides, in the translation practice of female philosophers’ works, translation can be used to give voice to female scholars. The approach of women philosophy to translation tries to reverse the absolutism of patriarchal thought by placing itself as a practice of resistance. Several female philosophers, including in particular Simone de Beauvoir and Luce Irigaray, attribute considerable importance to the power of female discourse in their writings. Therefore, we will take into account the works Le Deuxième Sexe, by Beauvoir, and Speculum. De l’autre femme, by Irigaray, in order to formulate an analysis of these philosophical works through a translation approach.
