The prohibition of the works of Machiavelli in Spain was subsequent to their inclusion in the Roman Index of 1559, but ended up being as absolute as in the rest of the Catholic world. However, despite the censorship, the texts of the Florentine secretary are found in the Spanish libraries of the 16th and 17th centuries, which would demonstrate the failures in the control systems carried out by the Inquisition, as well as the great influence of the thoughts of this author.
