This article analyses the possible similarities and differences between EU drafting instructions, especially the Interinstitutional Style Guide, and the reference style guides in three official languages: Spanish, English and French. A multilingual corpus of prescriptive EU resources in these languages and reference resources in the Member States, whose aim is to facilitate and homogenise drafting criteria, has been created for this purpose. The results observed include the fact that most of the guidelines used in the EU respect the orthotypographic instructions of the official languages with few modifications and that the sources used to prepare these guidelines in the EU match those that are most widely used in these languages.
