In this contribution, we describe different aspects of an online writing remediation system for students, developed within the framework of a project involving fifteen French universities (the écri+ project (https://ecriplus.fr/), which was initiated by a group f scholars including Sarah De Vogüé, who coordinates one of its actions). Taking the example of the treatment given for reported speech and quotation, which constitutes emblematic activity for academic writing, we will show how interact in the designing of tests and activities, 1) the choice of a linguistic model, 2) the constitution and analysis of two corpora of writings, one from learner writers, one from expert writers, and 3) the constraints linked to the digital medium
