Abstract

The contemporary Catalonia has been built over the basis of a very complex history of overlaps, battles and encounters between traditions, subjects and collective projects. The rhythm of the nation building processes are marked in their relationship and alliances with the hegemonic cultural practices: bullfighting, sardanes and castells. These practices develop not only ideas but also ways of doing things and feeling the world; through these, we participate in these projects in a relationship of identity and tension. We have to think about the conflicts between nationalisms during Francoism to understand the Catalan cultural development.

Author Biography

Pablo Giori

Llicenciat en Lletres per la Universitat Nacional de Tucumán (U.N.T.) amb el premi a la millor nota final de carrera de l’any 2010 de l’Argentina. El seu treball final reconstrueix el moviment juvenil Hardcore punk, tasca que es va completar amb la realització d’un documental. Després d’haver realitzat el Màster en Comunicació i Estudis Culturals de la Universitat de Girona (UdG) amb el treball Fer castells, construir nació. Castells, model festiu i catalanisme, fa el Doctorat en Ciències Humanes i de la Cultura. A més, és investigador dels equips “Historia, memòria i identitats” (UdG), “Pràctiques i usos de la cultura de masses a l’Argentina contemporània” (U.N.T.) i “Els usos socials de la cultura popular” (Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero).
