Abstract

The article deals with those members of the armed forces that opposed the coup d’état and lost their lives as a result. Some did so for ideological reasons, others simply because they believed that their duty was to obey the orders of the legitimate government. There were senior and junior offi cers from the army, navy, civil guard and assault units that did not hesitate to risk their lives in defence of the orders issued by the government of the Second Republic.
