Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor has it previously been submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided under "Comments to the Editor").
  • The text meets the stylistic and bibliographic requirements established in the «Rules for authors. Presentation of originals».
  • The author of the articles has read the Statement of ethics and good practices and will comply with its criteria.
  • The author or author who publishes in Segle XX, revista catalana d'història, coneix i accepts the editorial policies of the journal.
  • For submissions to peer-reviewed sections, the instructions in the section: About / Editorial process /: «Editorial flow: acceptance and rejection criteria, peer review and evaluation process ».
  • The authors will record, in their article, the funding sources that have contributed to the completion of their work.
  • The authors, in order to resolve possible conflicts of interest, will comply with the policy established by Segle XX, revista catalana d'història in this regard. This policy can be consulted in the section: About / Editorial policies: «Statement of ethics and good practices».
  • URLs for references have been provided whenever possible.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format (*.doc, *docx, *odt) anonymized.
  • The text is single-spaced, uses a 12-point font, and uses italics instead of underlining (except for URLs). All illustrations, figures and tables have been placed in their appropriate position, and not at the end of the text.
  • The author exclusively assigns all intellectual property rights to the publisher worldwide and for the entire duration of the applicable intellectual property rights.

Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING ORIGINALS

The guidelines for the presentation of originals can be consulted in the section: "Guidelines for authors".

The journal publishes articles and essays on Contemporary History of the 20th century from all geographical and thematic fields, and it is multilingual (Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese).

Segle XX, revista catalana d’història is committed to the use of an inclusive, respectful and stereotype-free language. The indications in this regard are collected in the APA guidelines on the use of bias-free language.

The articles submitted by the authors must be originals not previously published and not being evaluated by other publications. The Editorial Committee of the journal can also decide the Catalan edition of articles published in languages other than the official languages of Spain. Requeriments that research articles must meet.

To be published, the submitted texts must receive a favourable report in blind peer review, confidentially, by two specialists in the field who will act as external evaluators, and must subsequently receive the approval of the Editorial Committee. The editors undertake to make a decision on the publication of originals within 6 months. They also reserve the right to publish for a period of one year, in order to adapt the planning of the journal. The author who publishes in Segle XX, revista catalana d'història knows and accepts the editorial policies related to Code of ethics and declaration of good practices; the responsability of the authors, the editorial team and the evaluators; the open access policy and copyright notice; the conflict of interest resolution protocol; the equality and diversity policy; plagiarism detection; figital preservation policy; the protocol for the dissemination of content and open science; the metadata transfer protocol to open access repositories and content aggregators; the citation of funding sources of the published articles and the specific contribution of each author.
