The Frase Quincenal in the Documentary Center of Historical Memory: propaganda and ideology during the Franco’s dictatorship

Abstract

Between 1940 and 1951 the Provincial Delegation of Popular Education of FET y de las JONS in Barcelona published La Frase Quincenal (The Fornightly Sentence), a series of posters that contain slogans and allusive graphic motifs. Eighty-four copies are currently kept in the Documentation Centre of Historical Memory (Salamanca), three of them previously unpublished, which show us the basic ideological features of the Franco regime and the changes experienced by the propaganda as a result of international developments. This article describes this fond, as well as outlining its historiographic potential.

José Luis Hernández Luis, Centro Documental de la Memoria Histórica (Salamanca), Centro Documental de la Memoria Histórica (Salamanca)

José Luis Hernández Luis (Zamora, 1976) es licenciado en Historia por la Universidad de Salamanca (1998). Con posterioridad obtuvo el certificado de suficiencia investigadora tras cursar el programa Teoría y Metodología de la Investigación Histórica. En 2004 ingresó en el Cuerpo Facultativo de Archiveros, Bibliotecarios y Arqueólogos (Sección Archivos). Desde entonces ha trabajado en el Archivo Histórico Nacional y en el Archivo General de la Guerra Civil Española, hoy Centro Documental de la Memoria Histórica, donde actualmente es responsable del Servicio de Referencias. Como archivero se ha ocupado de tareas de identificación, descripción y difusión de fondos documentales. Colabora, también desde su puesto, en la formación de archiveros e investigadores En su faceta de investigador ha publicado diversos artículos sobre patrimonio cultural y Guerra Civil, fundamentalmente.
