Abstract

From the 1930s onwards the influence of the fascist phenomenon led China to develop a “native” fascism. The Blueshirts fascist Society was born as a secret group amongst the military of Guomindang´s militants between 1932 and 1938 under Chiang Kai-shek´s direction, generalissimo of the Republic of China. In 1934 the Chinese fascism formed the New Life Movement, which is an organization of fascist trend with influence from the Confucianism, aimed to attain mass uptake. This article tries to explain the development of Blueshirs (their origins, formation, ideology and their relationship with the Italian fascist regime and the Germany Nazi regime) as well as to give a reflection about the Chinese fascism in the historiography.

Chiao-In Chen, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB/CEFID)

És Llicenciada en Filologia Hispànica per la Universitat Catòlica de Fu-jen de Taipei (2006), Màster Oficial en Història Contemporània per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2009) i actualment doctorand en Història Política, Social i Comparada a la mateixa universitat. És becaria del Ministeri d’Afers Exteriors i Cooperació d’Espanya (MAEC-AECID) i membre del Centre d’Estudis sobre les Èpoques Franquista i Democràtica (CEFID) de la UAB. La seva publicació més recent serà un article fruit de la seva cooperació amb el Centre d’Investigació sobre la Matança de Nanjing de la Universitat de Nanjing (Xina), titulada: La reacció d’Espanya vers la Matança de Nanjing (títol traduït del xinès), en procés de publicació.
