Abstract

This article analyzes the several practices, concrete objectives and social and political projects that converged in the October revolt of 1934 in Catalonia. The working class movement, the «rabassaires» movement and poor peasants had important protagonist in the facts. They achieved to transform the October movement in a social insurrection simultaneously with the actions of Catalan government.

Author Biography

Manuel López Esteve, Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona

Llicenciat en Història per la Universitat de Lleida (2003), Màster en Història per l’Institut Universitari d’Història Jaume Vicens Vives (IUHJVV) de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2005), i DEA (2007), és investigador del grup de recerca de l’IUHJVV, on finalitza actualment la seva tesi doctoral sobre els fets d’octubre de 1934 a Catalunya. És membre del Centre d’Estudis dels Moviments Socials (CEMS) i del projecte d’investigació HAR2008-03291/HIST, dirigit pel professor Joaquim Albareda. Les seves publicacions més recents són: «Política agrària i conflicte institucional. La FESAC i el Govern de la República al llarg de 1938», a Josep Maria Delgado (et al.): Antoni Saumell, Miscel·lània in memoriam (2007) i la selecció documental de l’obra La Generalitat de Catalunya. Obra de govern 1931-1939 (2006-2009) dirigida per Francesc Bonamusa.
