About the Journal
SEGLE XX, revista catalana d'història, was created in 2008. It is an annual peer-reviewed scientific magazine, published by the University of Barcelona (Centre d'Estudis Històrics, CEHI-UB) . It is open to criticism and theoretical-methodological debate without restrictions, with a particular interest in the historical processes inscribed in the History of the Current World or History of the Present that connect with phenomena that reach the present day. The treatment of these phenomena is approached from the criteria of historical science, offering interpretations with solid bases.
Segle XX, revista catalana d’història also aims to contribute to strengthening the relationship between the university and society. The profile of the public it addresses is that which is part of the university world and the field of research, but it also wants to spread the word and give young researchers in training a space for participation.

This new issue of Segle XX brings together a series of contributions on some important historical issues. In the research and essays section, we find studies on the history of women and feminism from different national and international perspectives; on social conflict in the countryside through the trade union actor within the framework of contemporary history; an approach to the interweaving of rites and symbols of Catalan and Basque nationalism; a history of sports politics in contemporary Spain; a new study on public security politics in liberal Spain; and a new study on public security politics in liberal Spain; a history of sports politics in contemporary Spain; a history of sports politics in contemporary Spain; a new study on public security politics in liberal Spain; and, finally, a series of research projects on diplomacy and intelligence in the context of the Second World War and the Cold War. The Debates and Dialogues section deals with the question of violence in history, which is very useful for situating ourselves in the current context. It is based on the dialogue, coordinated by Miguel Ángel del Arco, between the archaeologist and historian Alfredo González-Ruibal and the historian Miguel Alonso Ibarra, who specialises in war, fascism and military history. Finally, in the Reviews and Reading section, we offer a selection of recent publications on contemporary Spain and the modern world.
